Astilbe produces tall, feathery plumes of tiny densely-packed flowers that add a soft, romantic texture found in very few other cut flowers. The plumes photograph beautifully and hold their form well throughout the vase life. Red astilbe is one of the more unusual cut flower offerings — the deep red plumes add a rich, velvety drama that is difficult to achieve with standard flowers.
